Quran & Human Development

Picture

There are many new facts that have been discovered or proven, which were actually mentioned in the (Qur'an) fourteen centuries ago . The Qura'n which is a literal word from God gave many pieces of evidence. An example of this is: The Qur'an on human embryonic development. In the Holy Qur'an the stages of man's embryonic development are mentioned: "We created man from an extract of clay. Then We made him as a drop in a place of settlement, firmly fixed. Then We made the drop into an alaqah, then We made the alaqah into a "mudghah" (Qur'an 23:12-14)

Note: this is only a translation of the meaning of these

verses in the Holy Qur'an.

Alaqah Stage:

Literally there are three meanings for the Arabic word alaqah:

1) Leech
2) Suspended thing
3) Blood clot

Leech:

The drawing reveals the similarity in shape and look between a leech and a human embryo at the "alaqah stage". The embryo at this stage, get nourishment from the blood of the mother, similar to a leech, which feeds on the blood of others.(Figure 1)

Suspended thing:

From these figures we can see  that during the "alaqah stage" the embryo is suspended in the uterus of the mother . (Figure 2,3)
Blood Clot:

Scientist found that due to the presence of relatively large amounts of blood in this stage the external appearance of the embryo and it's sacs are similar to that of the blood clot. The diagram shows the primitive cardiovascular system in an embryo during alaqah stage. So as we can see, the three meanings of the word "alaqah" correspond to the appearance and description of the alaqah stage.

Mudgah Stage:

The Arabic word mudgah means "chewed substance".When we compare the appearance of an embryo at the "mudgah stage" with a piece of gum that has been chewed we find similarities, due to the somites on the back of the embryo which look like teeth marks.
